The OASIS (Heraklion Juvenile Support Group) is the pioneering effort of private individuals to highlight and cover the very serious lack of state structures and organization in the field of child protection for the Region of Crete.
In particular, at the level of the Region of Crete, the infrastructure for the prevention and protection of abused members of a family is incomplete, without substantial planning, organization, coordination and evaluation.
The OASIS aims to create the first day center for children at risk in the city of Heraklion, with the aim of enabling healthy and safe living for children whose life has shown them its harshest face from their first steps .Children who face serious social difficulties, are on the street, homeless or in danger and need help and support in a family environment.
The reason for the initiation of this action is the serious cases of children who do not have direct care, custody, have been abused and as a whole are children who have experienced violence, abandonment and neglect, children who beg and who are often the subject of the Mass Media , because there is no place to accommodate them temporarily.
In this space they will stay temporarily as a "family" with their children, offering them a warm hug, making sure to give them the supplies, so that they can smoothly integrate into society. What is being asked is the willingness on the part of citizens, institutions and professionals to become helpers in this effort. The OASIS since 2005, it has been earmarking part of its income for this purpose. To date, however, he has not managed to raise the necessary funds for the creation of the Center.
For this purpose, he invites everyone who wants to contribute so that the day center in Crete can be done faster and children at risk can find a welcoming and safe home.
